I was curious while reading this as it never really touched on the spark for this article so I read Ross’s piece to find it. Once again I found no direct reference but another article by Robin Hanson in “OvercomingBias”.

What’s next...Love Redistribution? Tell me, can you make another person love you? Even considering any argument for this requires you accept and promote the idea that every desire anyone has becomes a right. Once you start down this path there is no stopping, it is therefore imperative we not even consider that a desire constitutes a right.
